SM Entertainment Explains The State Of SHINee’s Contract After Reports Of Onew And Taemin Leaving Go Viral

SM Entertainment has issued an official statement addressing the future of SHINee members in their agency!

On the 5th of March, SM Entertainment (hereinafter SM) stated, “The team will continue unchanged at SM in relation to SHINee’s activities, and individual activity contracts will be decided in the direction that each member wants.”

They added, “Minho and Key are positively discussing both group and individual activities with our company, while Onew is exploring various options.”

Regarding the rumors of Taemin moving to Big Planet Made Entertainment, they stated, “Taemin’s exclusive contract will end at the end of March,” and also mentioned that they are still considering various options for his future after the contract ends.

Earlier today, it was reported that Taemin is leaving SM and signing with BPM, however, the agency has since issued a vague statement to relay that nothing has been decided yet. After that initial report, Onew was also reported to leave SM after his contract expires.

SHINee debuted in 2008 and has been with SM for 16 years now.

Currently, SM-affiliated groups such as Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, and EXO continue their team activities with SM while also being allowed to pursue individual activities.
