Song Min Hyun has passed away.

Song Min Hyun passed away at the age of 70 on the morning of the 3rd of April. Currently, the funeral hall for the deceased is set up at Seoul Red Cross Hospital in Seoul. The funeral procession will take place on the 5th at 6 a.m., with the burial at the Seoul National Cemetery.

According to the family, it was reported that the deceased passed away after battling gallbladder cancer following surgery.

Song Min Hyun revealed last September on MBN’s ‘Dongchimi’ that he had battled cancer four times since 2006. He reminisced, saying, “The cancer recurred four times. The hospital suggested immediate surgery, but I was filming a drama at the time, so I only received anti-cancer treatment.” Having overcome liver cancer four times as well, it is even more heartbreaking.

Born in 1954, the late actor made his debut in 1966 on KBS’s ‘Children’s Theater – Hukburi Younggam’ as a goblin. After graduating from Dongguk University’s Theater and Film Department, he returned to the spotlight in 1995 with SBS’s ‘LA Arirang’.

He then appeared in various dramas across the years including his last appearance in a drama, “Mr. Queen.” Especially from 2007 to 2019, he received much love for his role as Lee Gwi-hyun, the father of the protagonist Yeong-ae (played by Kim Hyun-suk), in tvN’s ‘Rude Miss Young-ae’.

May his soul rest in peace.
