Recently, the main cast of the highly anticipated Netflix drama “Celebrity” gathered for its press conference, here are some key takeaways from the event.
“Celebrity” is a Netflix series that portrays the glamorous and fierce reality of celebrities that Ari (Park Gyu Young), who jumped into the world of making money once she became famous, encounters. The drama is led by Park Gyu Young, Kang Min Hyuk, Lee Chung Ah, Lee Dong Gun, Jeon Hyo Sung and many more.

Director Kim Cheol Kyu, known for producing hit dramas such as “The Flower of Evil,” “Confession,” “Mother,” “On the Way to the Airport,” and “Hwang Jin Yi,” stated that the series will depict the trendy and hip stories that young generations overwhelmingly engage in on social media, which has deeply rooted in our daily lives.
The actors expressed their reasons for participating in the series. Park Gyu Young said she wanted to be part of the series because it tells a story that simultaneously shows the pros and cons of social media and portrays characters with various emotional changes. Kang Min Hyuk mentioned that social media occupies a significant part of people’s lives, and he was interested in the subject matter being presented as a series. Lee Chung Ah stated that it is a story that anyone can relate to in the current era. Lee Dong Gun, who didn’t know much about social media, revealed that he was fascinated by the glamorous and wonderful aspects of that world. Jeon Hyo Sung mentioned that she was attracted to the interesting subject of social media and the way it unabashedly portrays human nature.
Director Kim Cheol Kyu, who is known as the “ending cutter,” expressed his gratitude for completing the series with the help of the actors. He said, “I didn’t have any social media activity, but as I delved into the project, I created an account and learned a lot from the actors, such as the customs of that world, the language they use, what they eat, what they wear, and their conflicts.”
The event also included a time to introduce the characters along with hashtags. Park Gyu Young, who plays Seo Ari, an influencer who gained 1.3 million followers overnight, introduced her character with keywords such as #topinfluencer #wanttobecomeaceleb #livebroadcastexposure #mystery. She explained, “She is someone who expresses her unique personality and emotions honestly in everyday life. Her emotions undergo subtle changes, so I think I will be able to show a new side of her.”
Kang Min Hyuk, who plays Han Jun-kyung, the young CEO of the top company and a third-generation chaebol, introduced his character with the keyword #solefollower and described him as a straightforward and confident person. He said, “I call him the ‘Princess Maker,’ and I made an effort to speak like an everyday word, removing both greasiness and plainness, in order to showcase the charm of the character.”
Yoon Si Hyun, played by Lee Chung Ah, who is more famous and influential than any influencer, was given keywords such as #anotherlevel #objectofadmiration #royalfamily #uniqueinfluence. Lee Chung Ah said, “I exercised a lot of imagination to become a person that influencers would envy, and I conducted extensive research. As she meets Ari and becomes entangled with her, she is a character who falls into previously unknown deficiencies, excitement, and chaos.”
Lee Dong Gun, who plays Jin Tae-jeon, the owner of Taekang Law Firm with both money and power, described his character with the hashtag #unrivaled. He stated, “The hashtag #unrivaled perfectly represents Jin Tae-jeon. He is a character with excessive self-awareness. The line ‘I am Jin Tae-jeon’ is repeated multiple times, and when I immersed myself in the role and delivered that line, I felt a strange exhilaration.” He fully immersed himself in the character and answered with great enthusiasm.
Furthermore, its been revealed that “Celebrity” features numerous other celebrities making an appearance throughout the series.
The actors expressed their expectations and asked for love and support from the audience, saying, “We worked really hard during the filming process, so please show us a lot of love” (Park Gyu Young), “The series delves into the hidden stories of social media that many people can easily relate to” (Kang Min Hyuk), “It has a sharp and thrilling taste” (Lee Chung Ah), “It’s a glamorous and sparkling work.
