Disney+ Unveils 2nd Half K-Content Lineup: BTS Documentary, “Moving,” “Soundtrack#2,” “The Worst Evil” And More

Disney+is targeting domestic and international viewers in the second half of this year with Korean original productions, let us go over the releases of the upcoming projects.

Walt Disney Company (TWDC) Asia-Pacific (APAC) announced on the 10th the lineup of major original content set to be released through Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar in the second half of this year.

Moving

Firstly, ‘Moving,’ based on the webtoon of the same name by Kang Full, which has accumulated 200 million views, will be released on August 9th. ‘Moving’ is a human action series that tells the story of children living in the present while hiding their supernatural powers and parents who have lived in the past while concealing a painful secret. It stars actors Ryu Seung Ryong, Han Hyo Joo, Jo In Sung and many more.

Shadow Detective 2

The second season of the drama “Shadow Detective 2” starring actors Lee Sung Min, Kyung Soo Jin, and Lee Hak Joo, has been meeting viewers since the 5th of this month. “Shadow Detective 2” is a well-made crime thriller that depicts the final counterattack of detective Taek-rok (played by Lee Sung Min) from the powerful circle who returns to track down the hidden mastermind behind his friend’s blackmail.

The Worst Evil

“The Worst Evil” which features actors Ji Chang Wook, Wi Ha Joon and Lim Se Mi, is also part of the second-half lineup. “The Worst Evil” tells the story of a new type of drug called “Seoul Crystal” spreading through nightclubs in Seoul in 1990. Ji Chang Wook plays Park Joon-mo, a local police officer struggling to dismantle the drug trafficking triangle from within.

Vigilante

Actors Nam Joo Hyuk, Yoo Ji Tae, Lee Joon Hyuk, and Kim So Jin will also meet viewers in the second half with “Vigilante.”

“Vigilante” follows the story of Kim Ji-yong (played by Nam Joo Huk), a model police academy student who upholds the law during the day but lives as a vigilante who judges criminals evading the law at night. The series depicts the fierce clashes between individuals with different motives surrounding Kim Ji-yong.

Soundtrack #2

‘Soundtrack #2,’ the sequel to ‘Soundtrack #1,’ will also be released. This year-end series tells the story of former lovers who meet again after six years of separation. Actors Keum Sae Rok and No Sang Hyun appear, with director Kim Hee-won, who worked on the previous installment, taking the helm once again.

BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star- documentary

The music documentary ‘BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star,’ a collaboration between Disney and BTS’s agency, HYBE, depicts the journey of BTS, known as the “21st-century pop icon.” Through extensive music and video records spanning the past nine years, the documentary showcases the daily lives, thoughts, and future plans of BTS members as they prepare for the second act of their music careers.

Han River

The comedy-action series ‘Han River,’ starring actors Kwon Sang Woo and directed by Kim Hee Won, portrays the story of the Han River Police Force patrolling the Han River and responding to various emergencies and incidents. It will meet viewers in the second half of this year.

Carol Choi, Executive Vice President overseeing Walt Disney Company’s Asia-Pacific (APAC) original content strategy, stated, “Based on the success of the previously released APAC original content, we plan to continue delivering exceptional storytelling in the second half of 2023 and beyond, maintaining positive momentum. We also plan to continue collaborating with key content creators and storytellers in the region.”
