Amidst controversy over privacy issues, idol group Tempest member Hwarang has halted activities, and MBC M’s ‘Show Champion’ will now proceed with a 2-member MC system.
Starting from the live broadcast on the 13th, ‘Show Champion’ will be hosted by Xdinary Heroes Gaon and EPEX Keum Donghyun as a 2-member MC system.
Previously, ‘Show Champion’ debuted with Hwarang, Gaon, and Keum Donghyun as the MC team on February 21st.
Earlier, Tempest’s agency, announced on the 6th of March that the idol will be halting activities, they said, “Hwarang has been in deep discussions with our company regarding future activities following personal privacy-related issues revealed recently on SNS. During this process, Hwarang could not regain trust, and our company deemed it difficult to continue full team activities in this situation. Therefore, we have decided to temporarily suspend Hwarang’s activities.”
Furthermore, they stated, “Tempest’s Mini 5th album activities will proceed with a 6-member lineup excluding Hwarang. We ask for your understanding in advance that there may be footage of Hwarang in pre-recordings and productions. We sincerely apologize for causing concern to the fans with this sudden news.”
Recently, Hwarang faced controversy after claims of visiting a club. Subsequently, the agency clarified, “Hwarang deeply reflects on visiting the said place. He has pledged not to repeat the same actions and will pay special attention with our company to prevent such behavior from reoccurring.” Additionally, with the halt in activities, Hwarang will also be stepping down from MBC M’s ‘Show Champion’.
