SM Entertainment has canceled its upcoming Halloween party following the tragedy of Itaewon on October 29.

As previously reported, at least 146 people died in relation to the crowd surge incident that happened in Itaewon. More than 100,000 people gathered in Itaewon to celebrate the Halloween weekend on October 29, it was the first time in three years following the easing of restrictions due to COVID-19.

Due to a suspected overcrowding surge, many began to faint and over 100 were reported to have suffered from cardiac arrest. Various videos on Twitter showed people receiving CPR on the street.

Originally, SM planned to live stream the red carpet event, however, in the early hours of October 30, SM issued an official statement announcing the party has been canceled.

SM said the scheduled “SMTOWN WONDERLAND 2022” red carpet has been canceled after the event itself was canceled. They asked for fans’ understanding.

May the deceased souls rest in peace. Our sincerest condolences go out to everyone who was affected by the tragedy.
