Singer Choi Yena’s agency has released an official statement regarding the retraction of the music video just two days after her comeback.

On the 27th of June, Choi Yena released her second single album ‘HATE XX.’ The title track of the album, ‘Hate Rodrigo,’ incorporates the name of pop star Olivia Rodrigo. The song expresses feelings of jealousy and admiration towards Olivia Rodrigo, who gained worldwide popularity by winning three Grammy Awards last year.

However, the music video was changed to private just two days after its release, then, one media outlet reported that it was removed at the request of Olivia Rodrigo’s side.

On the 30th, Choi Yena’s agency, Yuehua Entertainment, clarified the situation and revealed it was not made private due to the previously reported reason.

Here is the official statement from Choi Yena’s agency, Yuehua Entertainment:

“Hello, this is Yuehua Entertainment.
We would like to share our official stance regarding the music video of YENA’s second single album’s title track, ‘Hate Rodrigo.’
After discovering that the music video had potential infringements on trademark rights, portrait rights, and copyrights in certain scenes, we made it private on the 29th and are currently working on editing the video. We apologize for causing confusion without prior notice. We will upload the music video as soon as the editing is completed.
Furthermore, it is not true that the music video was made private due to Olivia Rodrigo’s request. We have not received any such requests. We hope that unverified reports do not lead to misunderstandings among artists and fans. We also urge everyone to refrain from speculative spreading in the future.
We appreciate your interest and love for YENA’s album. We will humbly accept various feedback and repay you with more dedication to music.
Thank you.”
