Singer Choi Yena’s new song ‘Hate Rodrigo’ music video has went private on YouTube and her side has issued an initial response.

On the 29th of June, fans noticed the music video for Choi Yena’s new song ‘Hate Rodrigo’ was made private, soon people began to speculate about the reason why it happened.

Controversy had already arisen regarding the title of Choi Yena’s new song prior to its release. According to Korean media outlets, Olivia Rodrigo’s side requested that the music video be made private.

It has been reported that there were copyright issues with certain scenes in the music video, which made it inevitable to take it down, not the title itself as some netizens had previously thought.

Regarding this matter, a representative from Choi Yena’s agency stated to media outlets, “We are currently confirming the situation.”

This song depicts Choi Yena’s jealousy and admiration towards popular pop star Olivia Rodrigo. The song title combines Olivia Rodrigo’s name with the negative feeling of ‘hate.’ While some expressed concerns over this choice of title, Choi Yena explained that it was meant as a “paradoxical expression.” Moreover, it has been alleged that Olivia Rodrigo’s side has requested the removal of the music video, further amplifying the controversy.

Meanwhile, Choi Yena is scheduled to officially start her activities in Japan with the release of her debut single on August 9th.
