Choi Sung Bong’s Funeral has been decided.

On the 12th of July, the Seoul Gangnam-gu Office designated Mr. A, the manager of Choi Sung Bong, as the Chief Mourner. Mr. A is scheduled to take charge of the funeral and make the necessary arrangements for Choi Sung Bong’s body. The funeral will be held for two days and plans to receive condolences from fans. The departure is set for the 16th.

Choi Sung Bong gained love and affection as the “Korea’s Got Talent” contestant, as he overcame a difficult childhood, being abandoned by his biological parents at the age of three and raised in an orphanage. He earned the nickname “Korea’s Paul Potts” for his unwavering pursuit of music. He actively pursued his career, releasing songs such as “Naturally” in 2014. However, in 2020, he faced controversy over false claims of battling cancer. He claimed to be in stage 3 colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, hypothyroidism, and thyroid cancer, even conducting a crowdfunding campaign. Later, he admitted that all of it was lies and issued an apology.

Back on the 20th of June, at around 9:41 am, media outlets reported that Choi Sung Bong was discovered dead at his residence in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Based on the scene and a written document believed to be a suicide note, the police are investigating his death as a result of an extreme choice.

A couple of days later, his manager gave an interview and revealed that his funeral is yet to be held after no family member came to claim his body. He had been temporarily laid in a hospital mortuary after undergoing an autopsy at the National Institute of Scientific Investigation (NISI).

May his soul rest in peace.
