Singer Choi Sung Bong’s Funeral Has Not Been Held After No Family Member Came To Claim His Body

It has been three days since the death of singer Choi Sung Bong but the funeral has not yet taken place shocking netizens.

On June 23, a close associate of the late Choi Sung Bong spoke to Star news and revealed that the body of Choi Sung Bong is currently temporarily laid in a hospital mortuary after undergoing an autopsy at the National Institute of Scientific Investigation (NISI).

After the autopsy, the body was transferred to the hospital, but no family members have appeared to receive it, so it has been classified as an unclaimed body.

Choi Sung Bong revealed during his appearance on the tvN audition program “Korea’s Got Talent” in 2011 that he was abandoned by his biological parents at the age of three and placed in an orphanage.

The associate stated, “Choi Sung Bong has no family, so the situation is such that the body cannot be immediately transferred. We will have to talk to the district office after the weekend. There are documents that need to be submitted, and the procedures are complex.”

The associate, who helped the late Choi Sung Bong during his lifetime, is now taking steps to bid farewell to him on his lonely journey. He said, “I will take care Choi Sung Bong’s funeral on behalf of his family. The exact funeral schedule is likely to be determined next week.”

The associate also plans to create a commemorative space for fans. He said, “In the case of unclaimed bodies, it is known that the city provides a joint funeral free of charge, but I want to create a separate space where fans can pay their respects, even if it is only for a day. He was a lonely person, and I don’t feel comfortable just letting him go. He made many mistakes and received negative public opinion, but I still think that those who want to come and mourn him will come.”

Back on the 20th of June, at around 9:41 am, media outlets reported that Choi Sung Bong was discovered dead at his residence in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Based on the scene and a written document believed to be a suicide note, the police are investigating his death as a result of an extreme choice.

Singer Choi Sung Bong became known after appearing on “Korea’s Got Talent” in 2011. His voice took the industry by storm and he came in second place and made his debut as a singer, his difficult childhood story gained much attention as he rose to fame.
