Singer and actress BoA ultimately drew a sword against malicious commenters.

On the afternoon of the 11th of April, her agency SM Entertainment stated, “Due to the continuous spread of false information, malicious personal attacks, insults, and defamation against artists on various SNS platforms, video sharing platforms, online communities, etc., we have been working with law firm Sejong, which is responsible for handling artist rights infringement, and additional external legal advisory institutions to proceed with large-scale legal actions domestically and internationally.”

SM continued, “Since the previous announcement, we have already collected sufficient evidence for many posts and are currently investigating and taking legal action against specific cases, such as cyber defamation. We plan to hold those responsible legally accountable without leniency or agreement. Please be aware that all acts of posting malicious content can be subject to legal consequences.”

This happened after BoA worried her fans last night when she deleted all of her Instagram posts.

Previously, BoA had addressed malicious commenters on her personal SNS on the 29th of last month, saying, “If I don’t manage it, I get criticized; if I do manage it, I get criticized. They say I’ve lost too much weight and tell me to gain some weight, then say I look like a pig when I do. You may not know their faces, but don’t waste time like that in life. I’m sorry, but I am BoA.”

Furthermore, on the 30th of the same month, she appeared on Channel A’s ‘News A’ for an ‘Open Interview’ segment, expressing, “Looking back, I was just busy and lost. It’s a bit regrettable that I couldn’t enjoy it. I hope people understand that celebrities are also human beings. I felt that many people view celebrities as targets for venting their anger. Malicious comments are always bad. Many idols are discouraged by the view that they shouldn’t act like that. I hope that idols, as human beings, are respected.”

Especially after being worn out by such malicious comments despite her long career in the entertainment industry, BoA posted on the 6th, “Can I retire when my contract ends?” hinting at retirement. The next day, she specified, “My contract is until December 31, 2025. Until then, I will do my best as singer BoA to be happy. Don’t worry. My beloved Jumping.”
