Song Ji Hyo Wins Lawsuit Against Former Agency Who Now Has To Pay Her Approximately 1 Billion Won

Actress Song Ji Hyo has won a lawsuit for a settlement claim of approximately 1 billion won against her former agency in the first trial.

As the former agency did not submit an appeal to the court within the appeal period, Song Ji Hyo’s victory has been finalized.

According to the court on the 13th, Song Ji Hyo’s former agency, Uzu Rocks, did not submit an appeal to the Seoul Central District Court Civil Agreement Division 45 (Chief Judge Kim Kyung Soo) within the appeal period.

The period for appealing a civil lawsuit decision is within two weeks from the date the decision was delivered. Song Ji Hyo received the decision on the 28th of last month, while Uzu Rocks received it on the 23rd of the same month. Based on the date of delivery for Uzu Rocks, the deadline for appeal was until midnight on the 13th of December.

On the 22nd of last month, the court ordered Uzu Rocks to pay Song Ji Hyo 984 million won ($758,104) and some delayed interest. Considering this, the amount of compensation that Song Ji Hyo will receive is expected to exceed 1 billion won.

In April of 2023, Song Ji Hyo revealed she left the agency and will be filing a lawsuit for Unpaid Settlements, In response to the reports regarding Song Ji Hyo, the agency admitted to mistakes and said the actress has left the agency. Around mid-May, Dispatch released a scathing report detailing further allegations against the agency and their treatment of their employees. Subsequently, Park was reported for embezzlement charges. In addition, in May, Song Ji Hyo filed a lawsuit for settlement claim.

After filing the lawsuit, Uzu Rocks received the complaint and supporting documents from the court but did not appoint a legal representative or submit an answer, showing a consistent lack of response.

Meanwhile, in October, Song Ji Hyo signed an exclusive contract with a new label.
