The main cast members of the newly released Netflix series “Chicken Nugget” have gathered to discuss the drama at its press conference!

Recently, the production presentation of the new Netflix series ‘Chicken Nugget’ was held in Seoul. Ryu Seung Ryong, Ahn Jae Hong, Kim Yoo Jung, and director Lee Byung Hun attended the event, with broadcaster Ha Ji Young as the host.

Based on the webtoon of the same name by Park Ji Dok, ‘Chicken Nugget’ follows the story of Sun Man (Ryu Seung Ryong), a father trying to reverse the transformation of his daughter Mina (Kim Yoo Jung) into a chicken nugget after she enters a mysterious machine, and the comic mystery chase involving Baek Joong (Ahn Jae Hong) who has a one-sided love for her.

Director Lee Byung Hun, known for directing films like ‘Extreme Job,’ ‘Tune in for Love,’ ‘Twenty,’ and ‘Dream,’ took on the direction of ‘Chicken Nugget.’

When asked about the reason for choosing ‘Chicken Nugget,’ Director Lee Byung Hun replied, “I was looking for material based on webtoons, but the ones that seemed interesting were already taken by other production companies. Then the company recommended ‘Chicken Nugget’ to me. At first, I laughed while watching it, but the idea lingered in my mind for a few days, so I thought I should give it a try. After ‘Extreme Job’ and ‘Tune in for Love,’ I was confident. The story had clear strengths, and I found the material and setting charming.”

Despite the challenges he faced in producing ‘Chicken Nugget,’ Director Lee Byung Hun admitted, “I was scared while writing and felt overwhelmed at times. But I think the important thing is courage, so I hypnotized myself that this is fun and bravely took on the project. I was confident that we could fill in the weaknesses of the original work. I worked with the thought that while it may be enjoyable, there should also be elements that viewers can subtly think about after watching the drama.”

Ryu Seung Ryong, who has a special connection with works based on ‘chickens,’ once again appears in ‘Chicken Nugget’ as the CEO of ‘All Machines,’ Choi Sun Man.

Ryu Seung Ryong explained, “The logline was fresh and fun. I was curious about the story after the daughter transformed into a chicken nugget, and I thought many people would enjoy the story that unfolds beyond imagination, so I decided to participate with excitement.”

In the drama, he plays a ‘daughter lover’ who struggles to return his daughter Mina, who turned into a chicken nugget overnight, back to normal. Ryu Seung Ryong, therefore, expressed his determination for ‘Chicken Nugget,’ comparing it to a big match between ‘Taken’ Liam Neeson and a ‘daughter lover.’

He said, “Thanks to Kim Yoo Jung’s soulful performance, the chicken nugget looked like a daughter. I acted with immersion like Liam Neeson in ‘Taken,’ so it seems like a big match between Liam Neeson and me.”

Ahn Jae Hong plays the role of an intern employee in the drama “Chicken Nugget”.

He expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “I felt like it would be a fun and exciting story that goes beyond what I have seen before. I wanted to be a part of it because it seemed like a feel-good piece, like eating chicken nuggets. Once you try it, you can’t stop. I feel like I will be watching all 10 episodes at once.”

Regarding the retirement rumors that may resurface with “Chicken Nugget,” Ahn Jae Hong said, “I feel like I started the retirement meme, and I want to say that I have a certain amount of pride. Since ‘Chicken Nugget’ is based on a webtoon, I thought it would have its own unique color from the webtoon. So, I made an effort to match the tone and manner while acting.”

Kim Yoo Jung, who makes a special appearance in “Chicken Nugget,” plays the role of Choi Mina, who suddenly turns into chicken nuggets overnight, the daughter of Choi Seonman.

Kim Yoo Jung explained the reason for joining “Chicken Nugget,” saying, “I had the opportunity to read the script for Chicken Nugget, and I laughed alone while reading the script. I liked it so much that I immediately said I wanted to do it. I have always liked director Lee Byunghun’s works so I wanted to collaborate with him.”

Kim Yoo Jung added, “I was surprised by the scenario. Through Chicken Nugget, I learned that I like this kind of story. As I made a special appearance and had to express my character briefly and boldly, I went to the set with the mindset of enjoying it. There were also various challenges, such as wire action and wearing a chicken nugget costume.”

Meanwhile, the new Netflix series “Chicken Nugget” was released on the 15th.
