KBS drama “Pure Boxer” has unveiled photos of its first script reading session and confirmed the drama will premiere in August.
KBS2’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “Pure Boxer” is based on a novel and tells the story of the vanished genius boxer Lee Kwon Sook and the cold-blooded agent Kim Tae Young as they embark on a life-or-death manipulation escape.
The energetic script reading for the drama was attended by the director, and screenwriter as well as Lee Sang Yeop, Kim So Hye, Park Ji Hwan, and many more.
Director Choi, who took charge of directing before the script reading, said, “They say it’s difficult to shoot a sports drama, but Pure Boxer involves baseball and boxing. I think we have gathered actors who can handle it, even though it won’t be easy. I ask for your support.”
As the official script reading began, the actors immersed themselves in their respective characters and delivered an intense acting performance that filled the filming set.
Lee Sang Yeop transforms into Kim Tae Young, an S&P sports agent who recruits talented players and forces them to retire in a short period.
Kim So Hye, who took on the role of the vanished genius boxer Lee Kwon Sook, also drew attention with her performance during the session.
Kim Ji Hwan plays the role of Kim Obok, the operator of a gambling website and Kim Hyung Mook plays the role of Lee Cheol-yong, the former WBA lightweight champion and Lee Kwon Sook’s father.
Kim Jin Woo was cast in the role of Han Jae-min, the kindergarten principal.
The production team of “Pure Boxer” said, “The atmosphere on the script reading set was more passionate than ever thanks to the energy poured by the actors with maximum level. We ask for your anticipation of the hard-carry performances by the actors that will blow away the summer heat.”
“Pure Boxer” premieres some time in August.
