Korean Actors, Kpop Idols And Comedians Pay Tribute To Lee Sun Kyun Following His Passing

Various Korean celebrities have paid tribute to actor Lee Sun Kyun following his tragic death.

On December 27, it was reported that a male in his 40s was found inside a car, later, police confirmed the identity of the person to be actor Lee Sun Kyun. Later, his agency also confirmed the unfortunate news and said the funeral will be held privately and only attend by close family and friends.

Since then, the industry has been in shock over his sudden tragic passing and many events have been cancelled or postponed as a result. Various celebrities took to social media to share photos and mourn the deceased.

Korean-American author Min Jin Lee, who wrote the novel “Pachinko” wrote, “May he rest in peace,” and praised his commendable acting in his numerous works, especially in “Parasite.” She also mentioned his outstanding performance in “My Mister.” She hopes that he will be remembered for his exceptional works and creative talent.

Fellow “My Mister” actor Park Ho San took to his Instagram and shared photos with Lee Sun Kyun, he wrote, “Though it’s hard to believe and I don’t want to believe it, only after receiving the funeral announcement, then finally… To me, it was always Donghoon [name of his character in My Mister] rather than Sun Kyun. My younger brother. No matter what you did, I truly believed in you. How much pain did you go through? How difficult was it… I have to go to the funeral home, but I’m a bit scared… Anyway, I’ll go today. Even if I can’t say these words later, take these words with you. I, everyone who knows you, truly, truly believe in you.. Since you’re already lying down, stretch your legs comfortably, erase and let go of all the sorrow, sleep comfortably, rest peacefully. My dear brother, who was warm.”

Actor Ryu Seung Soo expressed his shock upon reading the news, saying, “As an actor, I can somewhat understand all the emotions, pain, and regrets.” He added that after bidding farewell to many colleagues in this heartbreaking way, those who are left behind must endure with a heavy heart. He continued, “The remaining family members will have a harder time, and all we can do is pray to God to protect them.” He mourned the deceased by recalling the short time they spent together.

Comedian Yoon Taek remembered the deceased, a proud Korean actor who brought happiness through his sweet and profound voice acting on screen. He expressed his hope that the deceased found comfort and freedom in the afterlife.

Actress Claudia Kim wrote on social media, “Everyone deserves the right to be forgiven for their mistakes,” and expressed his sorrow at the loss of such a great talent in the Korean entertainment industry.

Former member of the mixed-gender group Cool, Yuri, mourned the deceased on social media, saying, “May he rest in peace.” She expressed her sadness and mentioned how scary people can be, thinking that they are all the same. She questioned whether a mistake should cost someone their life and expressed her deep anguish. She promised to pray for the remaining family members.

Actor Lee Ji Hoon also expressed his feelings writing, “I feel dizzy and scared. Are the words of people who haven’t experienced or been there really fair and equal? News, YouTube, inflated rumors, who evaluates whom? Are they living well without any sense of shame?” along with a screenshot of a black screen.

G.O.D’s Park Jun Hyung posted a photo with the actor and wrote, “In life, everyone has their own ways of surviving according to the circumstances at the time. No matter how hard we try, we cannot always fully understand each other.”

He further stated, “But one thing is clear, everyone in this world wants to love themselves as much as possible and not cause pain or hurt to the people they love. They have surely put in effort themselves. It is truly regrettable and sad.”

Along with his message, Park Jun Hyung shared a photo taken with Lee Sun-kyun, showing their camaraderie. He mentioned, “On the day this photo was taken, our sister and I met him only once when he came to congratulate our comeback concert, as we have been close since our theater days. He treated us like very old relatives, he was so kind and genuinely cared, always taking good care of our sister and nephew like close family. I am so grateful for that. May you rest in peace and may God bless your soul and your loved ones, I pray for God’s blessings.”

Actress Kim Ok Bin mourned the late Lee Sun Kyun by posting a photo of a chrysanthemum along with the words “May the deceased rest in peace.”

In addition, Lee Hye Young expressed her condolences with a short post saying “RIP,” while TV personality Kim Won Hee posted on her social networking service, offering deep condolences to the family of Lee Sun Kyun.
