Claudia Kim expressed her feelings about challenging special makeup for a character with a huge physique in the drama “The Atypical Family.”
On the 2nd of May, the production presentation of JTBC’s new weekend drama “The Atypical Family” was held at Stanford Hotel in Mapo-gu, Seoul at 2 pm. Director Jo Hyun-tak and actors Jang Ki Yong, Chun Woo Hee, Claudia Kim, and Park So Yi attended the event.
“The Atypical Family” is a fantasy romance that tells the story of Buk-gyu (played by Jang Ki Yong), a time-traveler character who lost his supernatural powers due to depression, and Doh Da-hye (played by Chun Woo Hee), a woman who is intertwined with his fate. Claudia Kim plays the role of Buk-dong-hee, Buk-gyu’s sister, who lost her flying ability because her body became heavy after retiring from modeling activities in her 20s.
On this day, Claudia Kim explained the reasons for choosing the work, saying, “The previous works were all scary roles, but I liked the character of Bok-dong-hee because she is bright and has a human side. Also, I was surprised and amazed that the director thought of me for this role. I was attracted to it because I thought I could break my prejudice or the atmosphere that I have.”
Claudia Kim also revealed her experience of special makeup for the huge physique of the character Bok-dong-hee, shedding tears. She said that special makeup takes about 7-8 hours to complete.
Claudia Kim expressed her gratitude, saying, “Since I lived abroad for a year, I had a thirst for recognition, especially in Korea.” She added, “I had a lot of discussions with the director about the dialogue in this work, and through that process, the director allowed me to feel a great freedom in acting.”
Soo Hyun continued, “Through this work, I want to gain the nickname ‘girl crush’,” and asked for expectations, saying, “The chemistry among the women in the drama is also good. Please look forward to it.”
“The Atypical Family” will premiere on May 4.
