The Korean Industry Mourns The Sudden Tragic Loss Of Lee Sun Kyun, Interviews And Conferences Canceled Or Postponed Following His Death
The sudden and tragic news of actor Lee Sun Kyun’s (48) death has led to the suspension of official schedules in the entertainment industry.
Kim Sung Gyu, who was scheduled to conduct a round of media interviews for the movie “Noryang: Sea of Death” quickly decided to cancel the interview after the news of Lee Sun Kyun’s death was reported. The “Noryang” team announced, “Today’s interview with actor Kim Sung Gyu will be unavoidably canceled. We will contact you soon to reschedule.”
The production team of tvN’s “Marry My Husband” also canceled their planned live online press conference at 2 PM today and changed it to a recorded broadcast on the 1st of next month at 2 PM. The production team team wrote, “Due to the sudden news in the entertainment industry, we had to change our schedule. We ask for your understanding.”
This decision was made out of necessity as the news itself had a significant impact on the entire entertainment industry, rather than for immediate mourning and remembrance.
According to insiders, other official schedules, including the promotional event for the movie “Spring in Seoul,” which was scheduled for the 28th, are also being considered for cancellation.
Meanwhile, Lee Sun Kyun’s agency, Hodu&U Entertainment, officially confirmed his death and stated, “There is no way to express the deep sorrow and misery. The funeral will be held quietly in the presence of family and colleagues.”
