Netflix has unveiled new stills of its highly anticipated upcoming drama “Mask Girl”!
“Mask Girl” is led by Go Hyun Jung, Nana, Ahn Jae Hong, Yeom Hye Ran, and Choi Daniel, and tells the story of an ordinary office worker who becomes a masked girl at night.
Kim Mo Mi [Nana/ Go Hyun Jung/a 3rd rookie actress] is a plain office worker who lacks confidence in her appearance and gets involved in various mishaps while working as a masked internet broadcaster. Joo Oh Nam [Ahn Jae Hong] is a colleague of Kim Mo Mi’s and secretly admires her. He also suffers from low self-esteem and finds solace in watching internet broadcasts. He becomes caught up in an unexpected situation with Kim Mo Mi.
The drama has attracted attention from the start due to its unconventional casting of challenging three actors to portray the character of Kim Mo Mi, who undergoes extreme changes in the whirlpool of fate. The revealed stills capture the attention with the three different faces of Kim Mo Mi, each in the identities of an internet broadcast BJ, a showgirl, and a prisoner, each with ambiguous identities and statuses.
Firstly, the appearance of Kim Mo Mi, a company employee with appearance complexes, draws attention. Although she dreamt of becoming an entertainer, she couldn’t fulfill her dream due to her looks. As the internet broadcast BJ ‘Mask Girl,’ she dances seductively while wearing a mask and radiates an irresistible charm. However, her brief moment of happiness, being loved by many, is interrupted when she gets involved in an unavoidable confrontation with someone with ill intentions, leading her to cross a point of no return.
The curiosity of the prospective viewers about the rookie actress who plays the first Kim Mo Mi is growing as the veil over her character remains. Director Kim Yong-hoon expressed, “After seeing numerous auditions and meeting many actors, I felt destined to meet her. Her strong desire to act resonated deeply with Kim Mo Mi’s emotions.”
Nana portrays Kim Mo Mi, who gains the appearance she dreamt of after an unexpected event. Hiding her true identity, she starts working as a showgirl under the name of Areum, receiving enthusiastic applause once again under the glamorous spotlight.
Lastly, after a series of incidents, the imprisoned Mask Girl, also known as ‘Mask Girl murder case’ protagonist or ‘Prisoner Number 1047,’ is portrayed by Go Hyun Jung. Director Kim Yong-hoon expressed, “It is an honor to work with Go Hyun Jung, whom I have been a big fan of,” showing his affection for her.
“Mask Girl” will be released on Netflix on August 18.
