FT Island former member and actor Song Seung Hyun has announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.

On the 15th of February, Song Seung Hyun wrote on SNS the following, “I recently left the company. I would like to apologize to the fans who have been waiting for me during the long break. I am sorry for not being able to communicate well and for making the fans wait without any news. Thank you and sorry once again.”

He continued, “After much consideration, I have decided to leave the entertainment industry and probably leave Korea to start a new life.”

He said, “It has been four years since I left the team FT Island and worked as an actor. It was not the new work or environment that was difficult, but the uncertain waiting and human relationships. No matter what job I do, there will never be an easy task or easy human relationships. However, I want to challenge myself to live a healthy and regular new life where I can run every day.”

He also added, “I hope that you, the fans, will always live a healthy and happy life without any physical or emotional pain.”

Song Seung Hyun joined FT Island in 2009 as a guitarist, vocalist, and rapper. Besides group activities, he also appeared in musicals, plays, and dramas. In 2019, after the expiration of his exclusive contract with the agency, he left the team and switched to acting.
