Former Secret member Song Jieun and YouTuber Park Wi announced their marriage news.
On the 12th of March, a video titled ‘There is a special announcement’ was uploaded to their YouTube channel. Park Wi and his girlfriend Song Jieun, who were caught up in marriage rumors the day before, made the announcement themselves.
The two were filming for KBS 2TV’s ‘Immortal Songs’ on the day the marriage rumors surfaced. They later found out about the news of their marriage being leaked. Park Wi said, “It was a bit overwhelming. The date was even revealed.”
Song Jieun then revealed, “Since the moment we met, we have been dreaming of marriage and preparing for it. We have been dating with the idea of getting married in our hearts. We don’t know when that will be, but as our trust and belief in each other grew stronger, we decided to get married.”
She also expressed some bitterness, saying, “There is so much to do before getting married. But I wanted to inform our subscribers first if things ended on a positive note during the process. But before things could even be finalized, the wedding date was announced when only 50% of the process was completed.”
Park Wi explained the reason for filming the video by saying, “Our goal has always been marriage. Since people would be curious about ‘when’ and ‘how’, I thought it was only right to inform our subscribers first.”
Park Wi also mentioned, “Since there were already clues, I thought our subscribers would have expected it. Even if I had a girlfriend, I had said that I would never make her public.”
Furthermore, the two emphasized that the timing and date of the wedding have not been decided yet. They said, “Once the timing is decided, we plan to announce it. When we are fully ready to provide information, we will inform our subscribers first.”
The day before, reports surfaced that Song Jieun and Park Wi would ring the wedding bells on October 9th. Despite remaining silent, the two finally confirmed they are indeed planning to get married, but have not set a wedding date.
