SHINee‘s Key and Taemin have apologized for their recent controversial remarks!

Recently, on the YouTube variety channel, Key and Taemin made several comments about Minho’s skin color, Taemin said, “All you can see is the white of his eyes and his teeth as he plays golf,” and “Why did you get so tanned?” and Key said, “Key: If Minho closes his eyes and mouth at night, you’ll end up looking for him”

These comments raised suspicions of racial discrimination by Key and Taemin, and some fans expressed their disappointment in both members.

On the 29th, Key, Taemin and the production company posted apology messages to their Instagram.

Key apologized, saying, “I am deeply sorry for the discomfort and hurt that some people may have experienced due to my inappropriate words and actions. I will be more cautious in the future to ensure that my words do not cause any discomfort. I sincerely apologize.”

Taemin also apologized, “My sincerest apologies for any discomfort and hurt caused by my inappropriate remarks in the recent content. Thanks to our fans, I fully understand why the comments I made were disrespectful, and I will make a more diligent effort to be careful with my behavior and words in the future.”

Additionally, the Prism Production apologized, saying, “We apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable due to the content uploaded on SHINee’s channel. In the process of capturing the members’ natural conversations, inappropriate remarks were included, and we immediately deleted those parts after realizing the problem. We apologize to everyone who was hurt, and Key and Taemin deeply regret their thoughtless comments.”
