SEVENTEEN‘s Seungkwan expressed a sense of sadness in his acceptance speech for the ‘2023 MAMA’ award, as he remembered the late Moonbin.
On the afternoon of the 29th of November, SEVENTEEN received the ‘Album of the Year’ award and took home the grand prize at the ‘2023 MAMA AWARDS’ held at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
On this day, the members of SEVENTEEN took turns expressing their joy in receiving the grand prize for the 1st time since their debut. As leader S.Coups started, each member conveyed their overwhelming emotions. Towards the end, Seungkwan took the microphone and said that he would like to add one more thing.
Seungkwan said, “While preparing for today’s stage, I watched the performances of many artists and felt respect for them. Whether they receive an award or not, I want to say that all artists are so cool and there is so much to learn from them,” and applauded.
He continued, “This job is not easy, but I hope we can continue to work hard together in the future. I’m not sure if I can say this or not,” Seungkwan added, struggling to find his words and pausing for a moment to catch his breath.
Then, Seungkwan opened his mouth again, and with a trembling voice, he said, “This year has been really tumultuous, and I want to say thank you, and express my gratitude to my friend Bin, who loved and supported our team,” conveying his longing and gratitude towards his close friend Moonbin, who passed away. This moment even brought tears to those who were watching, including some idols.
Moonbin sadly passed away in April, causing great pain not only to fans but also to fellow celebrities.
Fans who know the deep friendship and memories between Seungkwan and Moonbin shed tears and empathize with Seungkwan’s tearful acceptance speech.
