Seungri To Be Released From Prison Soon
Seungri, a former member of BIGBANG, will be released from prison this month.
Seungri will be released from Yeoju Prison on the morning of February 11. It has been a year and a half since he was imprisoned.
Earlier, Seungri was at the center of the topic due to growing controversy surrounding the club Burning Sun, where he was serving as an in-house director. Seungri, who was indicted on a total of eight charges, including prostitution, sex trafficking, sexual violence, heavy punishment of certain economic crimes, business embezzlement, food hygiene, habitual gambling, and foreign exchange transaction laws, reported the end of the contract with YG Entertainment and withdrawal from the group BIGBANG.
Seungri, who was sentenced to three years in prison in the first trial in August of the same year after joining the military in March 2020, was also ordered to collect 1.15 billion won ($1,000,000) worth of casino chips. Since then, he appealed, saying the punishment was too harsh, and the High Military Court accepted Seungri’s claim and commuted the sentence to one and a half years in prison.
Since then, as the Supreme Court confirmed the original ruling, Seungri, who had been pending imprisonment in the Armed Forces Prison, has been transferred to a nearby civilian prison.
Although Seungri’s release from prison is just around the corner over the years, it is not expected to be easy for him to return to the entertainment industry as the crimes committed by him are unacceptable.
