NU’EST member Aaron’s fan event pricing is gaining attention.

On the 29th, Aaron announced that he is preparing for his first meeting to repay fans’ love, and revealed the plan for a ‘Oppa and Me’ MT event.

The event, which is a 2-night 3-day schedule, will gather fans on a chartered bus and head to a resort. Meals will be provided, and various activities such as photo time, sports competitions, parties, live broadcasts, and video screenings are prepared.

As the event allows fans to see the artist up close and enjoy all the activities together, it has attracted a lot of attention and various opinions.

First of all, the participation fee of 990,000 won [741$] per person and the fact that the event is limited to 300 participants, with 4 people sharing one room, drew attention.

Some K-pop fans expressed reactions such as “It’s so innovative that it’s surprising,” “If you want to be with fans, maybe there was a mistake in adding an extra zero to the price,” “I thought it was an event for 30 people, but it’s for 300 people,” “It’s not a event planned to make money easily,” “They’re just making money like this.”

However, another fandom gave opinions such as “It’s more reasonable than spending money on album purchases to attend fan signing events,” “The planning intent is more important than making money,” “It’s a two-night event with many activities, so it will be a memorable experience for both the singer and the fans,” “If the meal menu is good, it’s a reasonable price.”

Despite being an event for fans, setting an excessively high price and not being limited to a small elite group, there are opinions questioning the intent and whether it is a reasonable price considering the accommodation, transportation, meals, and the cost of event planning. There is also concern that if this culture is successful, in the future, idols will use their popularity to receive high amounts of money from fans for spending time with them.

With various fan events emerging these days, Aaron’s new challenge is drawing attention as to whether it will lead to a new idol culture.
