Singer Nam Tae Hyun (30), who was charged with driving under the influence resulting in license suspension, has been given a fine by the court.

According to the court on the 7th of July, Judge Ham Hyun Ji of the Seoul Central District Court’s 27th Criminal Division issued a summary order of a fine of 6 million won [$4600~] to Nam, who was summarily indicted on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).

Nam was accused of driving under the influence on March 8th at around 3:30 a.m. in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

After finishing a gathering with acquaintances, Nam called for a designated driver. While waiting for the designated driver, he moved his own vehicle about 5 meters to make way for the vehicles of his acquaintances and parked again.

During this process, it was found that Nam collided with a passing taxi while opening the door of a parked vehicle. The right side mirror of the taxi was reportedly damaged, but an agreement was reached with the taxi driver.

After the minor accident, Nam was found to have taken the wheel and moved the vehicle. According to the police alcohol test conducted at the time, Nam’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.114%, surpassing the license suspension threshold (0.08%).
