Highlight member Dongwoon (32) is getting married.
On the 27th of June, Son Dongwoon posted a personal handwritten letter on Instagram, saying, “I know that many of you may be surprised and feel a mix of emotions, including sadness. I’m still very nervous and cautious. I met someone who understands me and takes care of me a lot, and I felt that I wanted to be with them from now on. We have decided to hold our wedding ceremony in September.”
Dongwoon stated, “Since the person I will be with is not someone in the same line of work as me, we plan to have a quiet ceremony with only our families and close friends in attendance. I apologize for not being able to personally share this news with you and for keeping it a secret for so long.”
He added, “I first met all of you when I was 19 years old. I have been the youngest at home and in the team, and you have all supported and cherished me as the youngest. I am sincerely grateful. I have always been lacking, both at the time of my debut and now, but thanks to the overwhelming love you have sent me, I was able to grow and become who I am today.”
Dongwoon also thanked his fellow Highlight members, saying, “I am grateful to the Highlight members who have always supported me with unwavering loyalty. I will never forget the gratitude I have for everyone, and I will work even harder than before.” He pledged to shine in his position as a member of Highlight, with a more matured appearance, and to repay the love he has received from his fans.
Dongwoon debuted in 2009 as a member of the boy group Beast and released various hit songs. In 2017, he re-debuted as Highlight and gained popularity with songs like “Plz Don’t Be Sad,” “Daydream,” and “Calling You.” He’s the first member of his group to announce his marriage.
