DJ SODA and the organizers of the Japanese event released a joint statement announcing their stance on identifying the criminals and taking legal action against the groping of the DJ.

Recently, DJ SODA experienced sexual assault during a performance in Japan on the 13th of August, where audience members touched her chest and other parts of her body. DJ SODA and TryHard Japan Co., Ltd., stated in the joint statement, “This incident is a sexual assault crime which can never be forgiven, and we will identify the criminals who committed the crime and pursue legal measures. However, DJ SODA will continue her overseas activities, so she has entrusted TryHard Japan Co., Ltd. with all legal measures related to this incident.”

They also stated, “In addition, unfounded defamation and discriminatory remarks about DJ SODA’s nationality have been posted on social media in connection with this incident. The company is monitoring and tracking the accounts of those who spread and disseminate indiscriminate false information and will take strict legal action. We are currently in the process of filing a criminal complaint.” They also expressed their position, stating, “Eight Bulls Corporation and TryHard Japan will continue to work in their respective fields to create a safe and enjoyable place for people who love music and dance all over the world.”

The statement stated that they will continue to pursue legal measures against those who groped DJ SODA based on the videos taken at the scene. They also warned of legal consequences for those who spread false information about DJ SODA.

Following the incident, DJ Soda took to Instagram to write, “No matter what clothes I wear, sexual harassment and assault cannot be justified. I’ve been wanting to say this for some time. Maybe it’s obvious, but it took a lot of courage to say this. I’m not wearing revealing clothes to make people to touch me and see my body. I know myself very well so I know what kind of clothes make me look pretty, which makes me feel confident and satisfied with it, so I wear the clothes I want to wear only for my own satisfaction. But they have no right to touch me or sexually harass me because I wear revealing clothes. What do people who says it happened because I wear revealing clothes usually think? I have the freedom to wear what I want to wear and no one can judge people by how we dress. My body is mine, not someone else’s. I like to wear revealing clothes and I will continue to wear them. So, let’s all live while wearing whatever we want without paying attention to people who interfere with our outfits!!”
