Former LOONA’s Member Chuu has now fully gained freedom from Blockberry Creative!

On the 17th of August, the 12th Civil Division of the Seoul Northern District Court declared in a lawsuit filed by Chu against her former agency Blockberry Creative that the exclusive contract signed between Chuu and Blockberry in December 2017 was invalid. The court ruled in favor of Chuu and ordered Blockberry to bear the legal costs as well.

Earlier in March, both parties attempted to reach an agreement, but it fell through. Ultimately, in this recent verdict, the court concluded that the exclusive contract between Chuu and Blockberry has no effect. As a result of her victory in the main lawsuit following her interim injunction application, Chuu has legally gained freedom from her contract with Blockberry.

Chuu had filed for an injunction to suspend the effect of the exclusive contract with Blockberry in January of last year, citing issues with profit distribution and breach of trust. The court had accepted her request. Other members of LOONA also filed for and received injunctions to suspend the effect of their exclusive contracts with Blockberry.

Meanwhile, in November of the previous year, Blockberry had announced through their official fan cafe that they had decided to expel Chuu from LOONA due to allegations of abusive behavior towards staff members. This decision caused significant controversy.

In December of the same year, Blockberry submitted a petition to the Korea Entertainment Management Association (EMA) to prohibit Chuu’s entertainment activities.
