BLACKPINK Can’t Sell Out Mini Fan Meeting Tickets? Ticket Sale Stats Causes Concern Among Fans

Published Categorized as Kpop

BLACKPINK is struggling to sell out a mini fan meeting.

In late August, BLACKPINK announced that they’ll hold “BLACKPINK 2019 Private Stage [Chapter 1]” in Seoul on Saturday, September 21. There will be two fan meetings one at 1PM KST and 6PM KST at Olympic Hall, Seoul, South Korea.

The Olympic Hall is considered a pretty small venue reserved for smaller fan-meetings or more intimate concerts with fans. It’s not difficult to sell seats; the hall has a capacity of 2,432.

However, several netizens noticed that there are still many seats left and were shocked to find that out considering BLACKPINK global popularity, selling around 2400~ tickets shouldn’t be difficult.

The fan club was able to start buying tickets on August 20 at 8PM KST, while General public was able to buy ticket on August 22 and August 23. This means that the sale has been going on for a while now; many expected the girls to sell out on the first day considering their popularity.

For the 1st concert (at 1PM KST) here are the data:

VIP seats: 88K won (312 tickets) , R seats: 77K won (392 tickets)

For the 2nd concert (at 6PM KST) here are the data:

VIP seats: 88K won (22 tickets) , R seats: 77K won (429 tickets)

Everyone started debating about why the tickets sale was so low, it’s becoming a source of concern to many fans. Some netizens pointed out that BLACKPINK don’t have a strong connection with their fandom, one netizen pointed out,

“First of all, it’s prerequisite for a girl group to expand their fandom is that the relationship between fans and idols remain good. I fangirled a bit but there was no connection between us.

The company continues to push only Jennie and the rest of the members also only look at her. To be honest, it appears that Jennie also enjoys being on the top.”

Others point out that YG scandals could have had an effect; some netizens are also boycotting anything YG due to their numerous recent scandals. Some pointed out the fact that they only have 10 songs and have been promoting for a while now.

What do you personally think of this? Why do you think the ticket sale is so low?

My Personal Thoughts

Wow! This is bad, like really bad! its only 2400 tickets, its not possible that the sale has been going on for more than a week and they still haven’t sold out…

Don’t give me the excuse of ‘that’s a mini concert/ fan meeting,’ dude for the stuff YG claims BLACKPINK can do they should sell out in like a minute or two. Imagine if it’s TWICE or any other well-established group… they would’ve sold out the minute the word got out. If you’re a popular group, such mini fan meetings should sell out immediately.

I have said this before and I will repeat it again, before any Kpop company tries to promote outside of Korea they should really focus on establishing the group’s fan base inside Korea. The American market is very volatile and that’s the truth, one day they could be doing well but it’s difficult to predict the success rate due to numerous factors. Working on South Korea and Japan is the safest choice at the start.

BTS has a solid fan base in both Korea and Japan, when they began expanding to the American market they already had been extremely active domestically for a couple of years. This meant that when they left and focused on the west, their stats and sales in Korea weren’t affected at all.

I understand why YG would push BLACKPINK to the west but they’re doing it all wrong and this is coming from an outsider. While I understand they need to take advantage of how the west views of Kpop changed ‘a bit,’ the problem was that they’re neglecting the Korean market and that will cause major issues down the line.

They need a place to return to if all fails with the American market, solely promoting the girls in the west and not giving them variety show appearances is not doing anyone any favor. During their spring comeback, they barely promoted for 10 days before departing to tour around the world. It’s not far of a stretch to say that they’re neglecting their Korean fan base.

If they keep this up and remain this exclusive and limited in their domestic activities, it’ll be difficult for them to retain fans, those same fans will move on to other idols who show more willingness to participate and be there.

My name is Kevin Miller and I am responsible for writing Kpop content on I have been a fan of Kpop since 2014 and I am a multi-stan

  1. It is ok if I get a chance to go to korea so I would by BLACK PINK as many tickets as I can I Just i want a chance blackpink lisa, Jenni, rosè, jisoo don’t lose hope I am a die heart fan of your love stay strong love you’ll and there are your fans world wide and don’t lose hope

    1. It’s sad. I don’t have any real comments on the girls themselves since I enjoy their music but am not a hardcore fan, but they are obviously being managed poorly. YG could have done so much more with them, but it’s a pattern with that company, isn’t it? To let talent just languish away without reaching their full potential? The only ones who seem to have gotten full support from the company over the years is Big Bang, everyone else is neglected to some extent. It’s like their artists have to succeed despite their management, rather than because of it.

    1. I like Blackpink but Im not crazy about them. Yes, I did watched their concert here in US and they are good. And I like their songs. But I just couldn’t believe how fast they became successful in 2 years and able to go concert internationally. I got hurt a bit because since 2009 I admire the KPOP industry and also Korean drama’s and I witnessed all the Kpop groups back then, how they worked hard and how they reached their dreams until now. Im a big fan of BIGBANG and 2NE1! ❤ when 2ne1 got disbanded it hurts me but I just have to accept the fact that they will not gonna be together (still hoping one day they will perform all together in the stage) and then Blackpink debuted. Yes, Blackpink they are all beautiful but for me everytime they perform its not satisfying they dont give their all best on the stage i dont see they can make the stage on fire. I dont want to compare them to 2NE1 because they are beyond unreachable. But sometimes i find them boring especially Jennie shes not a good leader to lead her members. For me I see Rośe who is more capable to be the leader of the group she deserves more attention than jennie.

      1. Rightttt.. I’m feeling the same. 2ne1 really gives me the chill even I’m watching them on YouTube. But BP? They are pretty, but as you but they are just ok. I try to a fan, but not quite there yet. Nevertheless, their voices actually unique and they can go far in this industry

      2. What? if you dont like them its okey why you should be crazy for them? im crazy por them, they are my angels, i follow them from chile latinoamerica they have so many fans here if they come here some day sold out in minutes sure, but if yoy dont like Blackpink IS OKEY, for me they are the best group female, best performances, And Jennie deserves everything, she is the best. sorry but the only bad here its you comments.

  2. Dont compare them
    To other ofcourse some of
Fans hating yg blackpink and blink have a good connection but because YG DIDN’T RESPONSE because blackpink being controlled by YG first they’re didnt allowed to produce they’re own song, they can produce and second driving
Smoking going to club plastic surgeon drinking alcohol and YG IS A BIAS they’re alway giving jennie’s more attention than other member

  3. For them to not seol out 2500 Tix at their home court is obviously an outlier due to the burning sun scandal. It sucks their career had to be effected by that. I wish then the best because they truly are my favorite group!!

  4. Soon or later, the fan meeting will be sold out. You don’t know how many International BLINKS would die to go to their fan meeting like korean BLINKS. So please appreciate more. They maybe came from YG but they do not related in any scandal that made of YG. If you are a truly fan, you will support them. Support their talents, their musics, their arts. It’s a bonus that they are all freaking gorgeous ! Yall saying that these girls just having a nice voice and compare them with 2ne1. Look ! 2ne1 is over. GET OVER IT ! Same things will happen to other groups as well including BTS and BLACKPINK one day. But matter in fact, these 2 groups are the biggest kpop group in the world. You can not deny it ! They came this far because of THEIR TALENTS ! NOT THEIR VISUAL !

  5. I’m a Korean American I can say BlankPink is perceived very differently by my friends back in Korea and here in the States. Sadly there seems to be a disconnect with the Korean fandom. The amount of time and resources YG spent promoting them domestically and intentionally is disproportioned. The above is a result of that. And don’t say it doesn’t matter because they are a K-pop group and Korea is suppose to be their home base. I hope YG focuses more on promoting them in Korea. They are so talented they deserve to be successful universally.

  6. This is because all the YG Ent. & it’s artist scandals…there fame can be affected a lot by the ruining respect by YG…and it also been a long time since blackpink’s last comeback, so they need to release atleast a single, so there thirsty fan can have a little water

  7. BLACKPINK is okay. They’re not as good as TWICE or BTS and never will be. If BLACKPINK were to leave YG and sign with someone else, I’m sure they would do great, but that will never happen. Too bad.
