Australian talk show “20 to One” has finally responded to the criticism made against them for their remarks on BTS which many called racist.
You can check out the full story and what happened here.
One of the hosts, Alex Williamson, defended the segment and mocked fans. On the other hand, SBS PopAsia reached out to Channel 9 which airs the show for a statement, they told them,
“As a light-hearted entertainment program, it is our belief that last night’s episode of ’20 to One,’ which highlighted the ‘Greatest Global Crazes,’ did not breach any broadcast regulations and was intended to humorously highlight the popularity of the group. We apologize to any who may have been offended by last night’s episode.”
Many ARMY don’t like the reply and don’t think it was an acceptable apology.

My Personal Thoughts
Asking around, this is the show’s format, they make fun of celebrities. Some Australian followers of my blog told me they find the show annoying, others told me this is Australian humor style.
ARMY need to learn that not every single time you threaten people you’ll get what you want, you can’t bully people for the results you deem appropriate.
I still believe the show is lame and I don’t like the remarks they made about BTS but at the same time, its not the end of the world and certainly not the end for BTS.
I believe BTS will not be harmed by this and I don’t believe they’ll feel bad if they ever saw it, not that I think they even have the time for that, they’re busy.
This is what happens when you’re a global group, people take japs at you. Fans need to realize that and take it easy, I’ve seen people comment on my video covering the subject with horrible remarks like ‘execute them,’ ‘I want to kill them,’ ‘give them the electric chair,’ and worse.
At first, I was angry with the show but then I saw just how scary and volatile the fandom is, the fact that people will go as far as possible to punish you for making fun of a boy band. Sharing the host private photos to twitter, giving out the host card info, girlfriend phone number and worse, not to mention the death threats. On top of that, other ARMY were encouraging those who did it.
Seeing all of this unfold on twitter infuriated me more than this segment. And when people say ARMY can be bullies and can be scary, its not a lie. Of course, I don’t believe the entire fandom is like that but the fact that there is a sizable portion that does such things and others who back them up scares me.
Again, I am not saying you shouldn’t snap back or criticize , that’s your right but make sure you’re not taking it too far.
