2023 has been a huge year for kpop, here is what some industry insiders picked as the best artists!

In celebration of its 19th anniversary, the entertainment economic media outlet, Joy News 24, conducted a survey from September 18th to 25th, 2023, asking about the dramas, variety shows, movies, actors, singers, etc., that shone in 2023.

The survey included 200 industry professionals, including those from entertainment and broadcasting companies, content producers in movies and broadcasting, and entertainment reporters. The results of the survey are presented by category.

In this article, we’ll be taking a look at what the experts named the best kpop releases of 2023.

NewJeans claimed the title of ‘Artist of the Year in 2023’ with an overwhelming 112 votes out of 200 respondents, securing more than half of the votes. Jungkook of BTS, who had a successful solo debut this year, received 23 votes, securing the second position.

Following Jungkook, BTS received 15 votes, landing in third place. Next in line is IVE, who is still sailing smoothly after revealing ‘Kitch,’ ‘I Am,’ ‘After Like,’ receiving 16 votes and ranking fourth. Lim Young Woong, who sparked a trot craze in Korea, received 9 votes and secured the fifth position.

SEVENTEEN, breaking new records in K-pop album sales this year, received 6 votes and ranked sixth. BLACKPINK, the first K-pop girl group to hold a concert at Gocheok Sky Dome, received 4 votes, landing in seventh place.

Other notable mentions include J-Hope of BTS, LE SSERAFIM, SHINee, Kim Jong Seo, NCT, NCT DREAM, KARA, TXT, MONSTA X, among others.
