The Kdrama “Nothing Uncovered” aka “Let Me Grab You by the Collar” aired its first episodes recently, let us discuss the drama’s premiere!

Note: this article is a first-impression review, it doesn’t mean this is the writer’s final thoughts on the drama. This is a spoiler review.

The lineup for this drama consists of older but known actors and while I was not generally the most excited for the drama, I ended up finding myself pleasantly surprised by it.

led by Kim Ha-Neul, Yeon Woo-Jin and Jang Seung-Jo, it tells the story of a reporter Seo Jung-Won (Kim Ha-Neul), a renowned journalist and host of a current events TV show, has a successful career and a seemingly perfect marriage to wealthy Seol Woo-Jae. However, her life takes a dramatic turn when her husband’s mistress is found dead, revealing his infidelity. To make matters worse, Seo Jung-Won becomes a prime suspect in the murder investigation.

The premise seems interesting but its something we’ve seen before… if done right, it can definitely be something worthwhile. The script is written by an unknown screenwriter named Bae Soo-Young. I tried searching her name but nothing came up, so I am guessing this is her debut project.

These three main actors generally pick very interesting projects so I will put my faith in them for the time being.

The premiere episodes were gripping and engaging. I found myself impressed by the pacing, the writing and the acting. I liked all of it. I also liked the directing style.

I am always surprised by husbands lying to their wives’ faces so bluntly, it’ll never cease to amaze me. How did he think this would pan out? like, would the police not be able to realize he called his mistress or had been there on the night of her murder? I mean, he was bound to find out, this dude is WILD.

However, I do not personally think he did it. I think its related to one of those two politicians, plus points if his father. It’s based on a web novel too, so I am sure someone out there knows how it ends.

The drama will be 16 episodes which is… something…. again, its KBS…. You guys know my thoughts on the 16-episodes format, I do not believe this type of plot deserves this length but I am always ready to be proven wrong. My hunch tells me they’ll expand into Seol Woo-Jae’s father and his friend and expose their corruption, there is no way this plot shall run for 16 episodes uncovering one murder case.

I am also slightly sad to see how the drama’s premiere episodes performed in ratings, I read some articles on Naver about it. Sadly, it seems this time slot is dead, I don’t see how it can be revived, hopefully, maybe this drama shall reignite interest and pull in audiences next week.

Regardless, I loved the premiere episodes, can’t wait for next week’s episodes. This will be fun.

Have you guys seen “Nothing Uncovered” yet? thoughts?
