The new Thursday drama series “The Day of Kidnapping” is scheduled to be broadcast in the second half of 2023!

The drama is an emotional buddy thriller that depicts the unique collaboration between an inept kidnapper and an 11-year-old genius girl. The unpredictable and stylish genius girl and the bumbling and inadequate kidnapper embark on an unexpected and delightful journey of truth-seeking, delivering a different kind of fun and touching moments. Based on the novel of the same name by renowned K-thriller writer Jeong Hae-yeon, the drama brings together director Park Yoo-young, who has worked on “Model Family,” “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon,” and “Kingdom Season 1,” and writer Kim Je Young, who has received acclaim for films such as “Miss Wife,” “Come, Look at Me,” and “Cheese in the Trap.”

On June 14, ENA shared photos from the script reading session, the director, screenwriter along with Yoon Kye Sang, Kim Shin Rok, Park Sung Hoon and more gathered in one place. The flawless performances of the actors, who perfectly embody their characters, heated up the atmosphere on set.

First, Yoon Kye Sang showcased his transformation as the inept and weak-hearted kidnapper, Kim Myung-joon, revealing his brilliant side. He dynamically portrayed Kim Myung-joon, who becomes a suspect in a murder case while attempting to kidnap someone to raise money for his daughter’s medical expenses, increasing the immersion of the audience.

Park Sung Hoon delivered an outstanding performance with his quick judgment and analytical skills as the determined detective Park Sang-yoon. He portrayed the character’s transformation as he tracks down the kidnapping case involving Kim Myung-joon (played by Yoon Kye Sang) and unexpectedly uncovers secrets, once again proving his value as a “trusted teammate.”

Yuna, who secured the role of Choi Ro-hee after fierce competition, showcased her strong acting skills despite her young age, turning everyone’s expectations into confidence. Choi Ro-hee is a genius girl who has lost her memory and possesses a calm demeanor and extraordinary intellect beyond her age.

Kim Shin Rok exuded unique charisma in the role of Seo Hye-eun, the former wife of the enigmatic Kim Myung Joon. Seo Hye Eun, who abruptly left Kim Myung-joon and their daughter, returns after three years and becomes the mastermind behind the kidnapping of Choi Ro-hee (played by Yuna), which sets off all the events.

The production team of “The Day of Kidnapping” commented, “The performances of the actors and their synergy were truly remarkable. We can expect the birth of an exceptional emotional buddy thriller. Audiences will be immersed in the unique laughter, emotions, and stimulating storytelling of ‘The Day of Kidnapping’.”
