Wi Ha Joon Discusses His Approach To His Ruthless Character In “The Worst Of Evil” At Press Conference
Wi Ha Joon talks about his highly anticipated new drama “The Worst Of Evil” at its press conference, here is what he had to say!
On the morning of the 26th, a production presentation for the Disney+ original series “The Worst Of Evil” directed by Kim Ji-woon was held at the Chosun Palace Grand Ballroom in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Director Kim Ji Woon, along with Ji Chang Wook, Wi Ha Joon, and Lim Se Mi, attended the event.
“The Worst Of Evil” is a crime action drama that depicts the process of police officer Jun-mo (played by Ji Chang Wook) infiltrating an organization to dismantle the central gang alliance involved in narcotics trafficking between Korea, China, and Japan in the 1990s.
Wi Ha Joon plays the role of Ki-chul, the boss of the Gangnam Alliance. He described his character, saying, “The Gangnam Alliance is a cartel at the center of the Korea-China-Japan narcotics cartel. What’s unique is that the main members of the organization are friends, juniors, and seniors who have known each other since high school. I play the boss of the Gangnam Alliance. I went through many hardships in my youth, with many scars and various experiences. I climbed up from the bottom for success, money, and goals. I’m a ruthless and cold-hearted character who doesn’t hesitate to use any means and methods to achieve my goals. He’s scary.”
Wi Ha Joon, who plays the role of Ki-chul, the boss of the organization, said, “Since I play the boss of the Gangnam Alliance, charisma was necessary. When I thought about it, Ki-chul seemed more like a cold-blooded person than someone with ups and downs. His brain works fast. He’s a boss who thinks for himself and acts directly. I wanted to approach him as someone who is unpredictable, someone whom others can’t predict what he’s thinking or what he will do. I wanted to show a mechanical side. When he meets his first love, I wanted to show purity. I focused on acting as a man, as a young man, who has thrown away all evil thoughts.”
Lastly, Wi Ha Joon expressed his excitement about the release of “The Worst Of Evil” during the Chuseok holiday, saying, “First of all, the timing is excellent. I’m honored to have it released during the Chuseok holiday. I feel good. I think ‘The Worst Evil’ is a work that tells the story of the younger generation’s noir and human inner feelings, which we haven’t seen before. It may not be the genre to watch with family and laugh during Chuseok, but I hope people will still watch it. Even if they don’t watch it together, I hope they watch it individually.”
“The Worst Of Evil” premiered on September 27 and has released the 1st three episodes earlier today.
