“When The Camellia Blooms” is doing great!

October 2 episode of the new KBS series “When The Camellia Blooms” scored an average of 9.1% and 11.5% in viewership ratings according to Nielsen Korea.

This is “When The Camellia Blooms” best numbers so far since it premiered in Mid-September, it was also able to cross the double-digit ratings fairly quickly making it one of the highest-rated min-series KBS dramas of 2019.

In the same time slot, SBS “Secret Boutique” recorded an average of 4.6% and 5.3% while the newly premiered MBC drama “Extraordinary You” came in last with 3.1% and 3.5%.

Have you been keeping up with “When The Camellia Blooms”? What is your favorite Wednesday-Thursday drama?

My personal thoughts

Honestly speaking I was worried about “When The Camellia Blooms” when I saw the teaser videos, however, so far, it has been a wonderful drama that’s refreshing and suspenseful, it’s one of those dramas that surprised me in 2019.

I have also been keeping up with “Secret Boutique” and I find it to be an interesting makjang, if you’re into heavy family drama, “Secret Boutique” will give you just that. I love the actors of this project and find it fun to watch, so far.

I have also checked out “Extraordinary You” because of its unique plot, the premiere was actually interesting; the heroine is over the top but appropriately so. It’s aware of its clichés and cringyness (if that’s even a word) which makes it even more fun to watch.

“Extraordinary You” could end up getting better ratings but its up against “When The Camellia Blooms” which is a strong contender with a reputable lineup of experienced actors.

Also, I am not sure if netizens will react positively to the female lead of “Extraordinary You,” some had previously complained about her acting in “SKY Castle.”

I admit she’s a bit rough here and there but has potential, I don’t know if it’s enough for a leading role but we shall find out soon if she’s up to the challenge.

I think if “When The Camellia Blooms” wasn’t competing with “Extraordinary You” then the spotlight would’ve probably shifted towards it. Lets see how it goes. I certainly find all the public channel dramas interesting this time around.
