TVING’s “Bargain” Wins Best Screenplay Award At Cannes International Series Festival
“Bargain” becomes the first Korean drama to win the Cannes International Series competition, proving the excellence of K-content.
TVING’s original series “Bargain” accomplished the feat of winning the screenplay award at the 6th Cannes International Series Festival. In particular, “Bargain” is the only K-content among the works to enter the competition section of the Cannes International Series Festival, and it is all the more meaningful as it was achieved in competition with prominent foreign works such as “Good Morning Chuck”, “Carthage”, and “Childhood Dreams”.
In addition, Climax Studio, which has recently crossed the boundaries of platforms such as OTT, TV, and screen, and produced well-made content such as “D.P.”, “Hellbound”, and “JungE”, was officially invited to the Cannes International Series Festival last year as well. It was honored to win the screenplay award in the competition category while being invited for the second year in a row.
“Bargain” is the story of three people bargaining for each other’s lives, locked in a building that collapsed by an earthquake, and each starting a risky deal to seize the last chance and fighting madly. “Bargain”, which captivated Korean content fans with its unconventional story, development, and filming techniques, imprinted the competitiveness of K-content production on the world stage by winning the competition at the Cannes International Series Festival.
An official from Climax Studio said, “I am surprised and grateful to have received such a good result when the world is paying attention to Korean content. It seems to have served as an opportunity to let people know that the power of Korean content lies in its production capabilities. We will continue to work hard so that more global fans can be fascinated by K-content in the future.”
