The drama “Lovely Runner” has faced controversy regarding the ticketing during a group reservation event. CGV, the organizer of the ticket reservation, released an apology statement and announced that they would cancel any fraudulent ticket transactions.
Previously, the tvN drama ‘Lovely Runner’ announced it would hold a group reservation event at CGV i-Park Mall in Seoul on the 28th, attended by lead actors Byeon Woo Seok, Kim Hye Yoon, Song Geon Hee, and Lee Seung Hyub, ahead of the final episode broadcast.
On the 22nd of May, ticket reservations were conducted through CGV, but the server crashed, and about 1000 seats were sold out within 5 minutes of the reservation opening. Afterwards, posts claiming fraudulent ticket reservations were made through the kiosk ticket vending machines surfaced in online communities.
Furthermore, the group reservation tickets were sold at a low price of 1,000 won in line with the promotional concept for fans. However, there have been controversial posts online, with people trying to sell the tickets for over 300,000 won.
On the 23rd of May, CGV posted on their social networking service (SNS) account, “We apologize for the inconvenience caused by unprecedented traffic despite our efforts to expand servers and prepare for the ‘Lovely Runner’ final episode group reservation event before and after the ticket reservation opening on the CGV app and website.”
CGV explained that they would take immediate automatic refund measures without prior notice for cases where the purchase was made through other channels than CGV, cases where one person purchased more than two tickets, and cases where fraudulent transactions were detected.
They also stated, “If payment through the kiosk, as reported, is confirmed to be in violation of the above conditions, automatic refunds will be processed. Automatic refund procedures will also be carried out if further violations are confirmed.”
Refunded seats will be temporarily designated as unsold seats. CGV expressed gratitude for the explosive popularity of the drama and the interest in the final episode group reservation event, and once again urged people to refrain from unofficial ticket transactions. They assured that CGV would actively respond to the situation.
