The Famous Kdrama “Hyena” Is Getting A Japanese Remake
The drama “Hyena” which garnered a lot of attention for its cast including actors Kim Hye Soo and Ju Ji Hoon, will be remade in Japan.
On the 12th of September, the comprehensive entertainment company Keyeast announced, “The Japanese remake of the 2020 SBS drama ‘Hyena’ is scheduled to be first broadcast on October 20th on TV Tokyo.”
In the original, the role of Jung Geum-ja (played by Kim Hye Soo) will be taken on by Shinohara Ryoko, one of Japan’s top actresses who has appeared in numerous hit dramas. The role of Yoon Hee-jae (played by Ju Ji Hoon) will be played by Yamazaki Ikusaburo, a musical actor who has expanded his activities through various dramas attracting attention.
TV Tokyo, where this Japanese remake of ‘Hyena’ will be aired, is one of Japan’s leading private broadcasting stations, and it holds special significance as the first Korean drama to be remade since its establishment. The drama will be broadcast not only on TV Tokyo but also on TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Setouchi, TV Hokkaido, and TVQ Kyushu channels, as well as being simultaneously released on Netflix and the Japanese domestic OTT platform TVer.
“Hyena” is a drama that depicts the survival game of lawyers representing the top 1% high-class society. At the time of its broadcast, it recorded high ratings in the 18% range.
