Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” is returning with a new season after three years, the cast and director of the drama talked about it at its press conference.

On the afternoon of the 3rd of May, Kang Shin-hyo, the director, and actors Lee Dong Wook, Kim So Yeon, Kim Bum, and Ryu Kyung Soo attended the press conference of tvN’s new weekend drama “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938.”

“Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” is a K-fantasy action historical drama about Gumiho Lee Yeon, who crashed into the chaotic era of 1938 and struggles to return to the modern era. The drama is equipped with more dynamic action scenes, expanded scale, and various characters from mythical creatures and native spirits that are ingeniously interwoven in a unique world view.

Lee Dong Wook returned as the distinctive character, Lee Yeon, saying, “It is an honor to be able to do my beloved ‘Gumiho Tale’ again. I have some pressure, but I dare to expect that they will be satisfied. There is no reason to do it if it’s not more fun than season 1.”

He added, “I will show you two different aspects of Lee Yeon, in the modern era and in 1938. Lee Yeon in 1938 is a person who runs to the end beyond being blunt. It’s better not to meet him. The character is in a very miserable state in that era.”

Kim So Yeon plays the lead role of Ryu Hong-Joo who owns the best Korean-style brothel in Gyeongseong, she also plays the role of a former Mountain god with enormous power. Kim So Yeon said, “Hong-ju is a character who likes pretty things and likes to dress up, but I decorated it a little more glamorously, taking advantage of the genre of fantasy.”

She added, “I prepared a lot by attending an action school and practicing with a long sword for the action scenes. I wanted to try doing fantasy. I wanted to play a character that seemed like it didn’t exist, like a mountain spirit coming out on a wire. I was happy to join because I didn’t expect to meet that kind of character in my lifetime.”

Kim Bum, who plays a half-human, half-fox character in season 2, is the younger brother of Lee Yeon. He said, “I’m the head of the wolves. I’m more prickly, arrogant, and rebellious than in season 1. When I was the leader of the band of demons, I wore a leather jacket and long hair to express a natural wildness without decoration. Half of my hair is a wig.”

Ryu Kyung Soo plays the role of Cheong Mu-Young, a former mountain god and a name that can bring the dead back to life. He explained, “He saved all fragile and living things, but he became a different character due to a certain incident.”

Regarding the charm of Cheon Muyeong, Ryu Kyung Soo said, “His nature itself is gentle and kind. When his reason is lost due to misunderstanding, he tries to restore what he thinks he lost. But because it conflicts with his nature, many dimensional appearances come out.”

Director Kang Shin-hyo expressed confidence in the show, saying, “Thanks to the viewers who loved season one, we were able to come back. There’s even a battle between Korean and Japanese fox spirits, which is as exciting as rock-paper-scissors. We have everything except for the male lead’s romance.”

“Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” will premiere on May 6 at 9:20 PM.
