Suzy said that smoking scenes were thrilling and an important device for her character in the drama “Doona!”
On the morning of the 18th of October, the production presentation of the Netflix series “Doona!” was held. Suzy, Yang Se Jong, and director Lee Jung Hyo attended the event. During the various teasers shared leading up to the release of the drama, various video teasers featured Doona smoking. Suzy spoke about this and said said, “Rather than being difficult, it was thrilling.”
She explained, “In the original webtoon, there were many scenes of Doona smoking. The director was worried from the beginning when we first met, but I was excited because I thought that such a setting could bring a fresh approach when choosing a work. Since smoking is the most important device to express the character of Doona, I focused on portraying her in a Doona-like manner.”
Suzy then reminisced, saying, “I was worried about diving underwater because I’m a little scared of water, but once I started filming, I naturally did it. It was to express the initial appearance of Doona, so I jumped into the water with many thoughts.”
Based on the popular Naver webtoon, “Doona!” is a romance drama that tells the story of ordinary college student Wonjun, who meets Doona, a retired K-pop idol, while living in a shared house, and their ensuing story.
The drama was released worldwide on Netflix on October 20.
