Actor Song Joong Ki has revealed that the rumors of him auditioning for a BBC project, which were reported in the media, are true.

Recently, Song Joong Ki held an interview with reporters at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul, ahead of the release of his film “Hopeless.”

Earlier this year, there were rumors that actor Song Joong Ki had auditioned for a drama with the British public broadcasting company BBC. However, his agency, HiSTORY D&C, had stated at the time that although he had met with BBC officials, it was not for an audition for a drama or program but just a simple meeting.

However, during the interview that day, Song Joong Ki coolly admitted that the rumors of him auditioning for a BBC drama were indeed true.

Song Joong Ki said, “The content is not a rumor but a fact. In fact, I have been consistently auditioning for overseas projects for a long time, but because my wife is a foreigner, related content got mixed up and became a topic of conversation.”

He said, “Auditioning for overseas projects has always been a part of my life. I have had acquaintances, actors, and PDs who are active in the UK or the US, who are close to my wife, introduce me to opportunities. So, I have been going to auditions a lot, and there are actually a few more auditions that I need to attend this year.”

He continued, “But unfortunately, I was rejected for all of them. Like how I approached ‘Hopeless’, I wanted to try various roles, regardless of the importance of the character. In that sense, my wife has been a great help. It is true that my wife introduced me to BBC officials as well, it’s not just a rumor.”

Meanwhile, Song Joong-ki returned to Korea for the promotion of his film “Hopeless” which is set to be released on October 11th.

“Hopeless” is a noir drama that tells the story of a boy named Yeong-gyu (played by Hong Sa Bin) who wants to escape from a hellish reality and ends up getting involved in a dangerous world after meeting the middle boss of an organization, Chi Geun (played by Song Joong Ki).
