The casting of actors Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee in “Hyun Hok” fell through.
On the 2nd of April, a representative from the production company Showbox stated to MyDaily, “It is true that both actors were in discussions with the ‘Hyun Hok” team regarding casting, but as it was not confirmed, they decided to stop the related discussions.”
“Hyun Hok” is based on a webtoon of the same name serialized on Naver in 2019. It tells the story of a poor painter, Yoon Hwabaek, who receives a commission to paint a portrait of a vampire lady in 1935 Seoul, depicting the story of what he encounters at the hotel he stays in.
The news of Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee’s casting in “Hyun Hok” drew attention when it was reported on the 6th of last month. Han So Hee was set to play the vampire lady, while Ryu Jun Yeol was to play Yoon Hwabaek.
However, rumors of their romantic relationship surfaced afterwards, followed by reports of their breakup, sparking curiosity about whether the two would reunite in the project.
In relation to this, last night, a Showbox representative told MyDaily, “The participation of Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee is still under discussion. There is no new information at this time,” and added, “The production of the series or movie is also under discussion.”
