The drama “Queen Maker,” starring Kim Hee Ae and Moon So Ri, took first place in Netflix’s non-English TV category for weekly viewing hours.
According to Netflix’s official site ‘Netflix Top 10’ on April 19th, the viewing time of “Queen Maker” last week was 15.87 million hours, the highest figure in the non-English TV category.
“Queen Maker”, which was released on April 14th, drew attention from global viewers by portraying a political show business where strategy and schemes prevail with female protagonists. Hwang Do Hee (Kim Hee Ae), who was in control of the strategic planning office of the conglomerate Eunseong Group, goes through a series of incidents and jumps into the election to make Oh Kyeong Suk (Moon So Ri), a human rights lawyer, the mayor of Seoul. In Baek Jae Min’s camp against Seoul Mayor’s candidate Oh Kyung Sook, strategist Carl Yoon, a legendary figure in the election, and Guk Ji Yeon, an ambitious man who filled the vacant seat of Hwang Do Hee at Eunseong Group, are supported by Son Young Sim, chairman of Eunseong Group.
Netflix unveiled the behind-the-scenes still of the drama set. Kim Hee Ae said, “All actors fell in love with their roles as if they were on the stage of a play. I felt a thrilling pleasure as an actor when I saw them respond to each other as if they were playing jazz,” she said, reflecting on the scene where they showed perfect teamwork.
During the same period, “The Glory”, a revenge drama for school violence starring Song Hye Kyo, was watched for 12.9 million hours, ranking third in the non-English TV category. “Divorce Attorney Shin”, in which Cho Seung Woo played a divorce lawyer, ranked 4th with 10.39 million hours watched.
