The person who left malicious comments about singer and actor Lee Junho has been sentenced to a fine of 3 million won [over $2300].
According to JYP Entertainment, Lee Junho’s agency, on the 28th of July, the Seoul Western District Court recently ruled that the perpetrator repeatedly spread false information about Lee Junho and wrote posts severely damaging the artist’s reputation. As a result, the perpetrator was found guilty of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communication Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation) and was fined 3 million won.
The court acknowledged the perpetrator’s defamation charges, stating, “The defendant repeatedly posted false content on online communities out of dissatisfaction with the victim (Lee Junho). By doing so, the defendant intentionally spread false information through information and communication networks to defame the victim.”
JYP Entertainment stated, “We have strengthened our monitoring systems and appointed multiple law firms as legal representatives for prosecution to respond more effectively.” They also emphasized that they will continue to take strong measures without leniency against groundless false information and malicious posts about their artists.
They further expressed their gratitude to the fans who always support and love their artists, promising to prioritize the safety and protection of their artists as their agency. They vowed to take strong and decisive action, including legal action, against any actions that hinder their artists’ well-being.
