MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “My Dearest” will be released in parts!

The drama is planned for a total of 20 episodes, divided into two parts, with Part 1 airing on August 4th and Part 2 scheduled to air in October. This is the first MBC drama to be produced with two parts in mind since the planning stage.

An MBC official stated, My Dearest is a drama planned for 20 episodes, and we started production with the idea of parts in mind. With the flood of content in domestic television, cable, and OTT platforms, with over 160 dramas produced in just the past year, determining the number of episodes became an important production element for both the story of the drama itself and immersive viewing experience. To present our drama in a more appealing way to viewers in line with the changing content consumption habits of the audience, we have decided to broadcast it in two parts, each consisting of 10 episodes.”

Director Kim Sung Yong, who is in charge of directing, also expressed his thoughts, saying, “Through the parts, we can deliver the stories of people suffering during the Korean War and the intertwining stories of lovers more solidly to viewers. In addition, the alternating settings and the changing characters of Lee Jang-hyeon (played by Namkoong Min) and Yoo Gil-chae (played by Ahn Eun Jin), as they travel between the Joseon Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, will be another viewing point when watching Parts 1 and 2. Especially, the last episode of Part 1, where the lives of the male and female leads dramatically change, will leave viewers with a deep anticipation for Part 2.”

The MBC drama “My Dearest” is about the love story of a couple during the changes around the second Manchu invasion of Korea in the Joseon dynasty and the story of the civilians who kept hope in the hardship of poverty. The drama includes Namgoong Min, Ahn Eun Jin, Lee Hak Joo, Lee Da In and more.
