The highly anticipated drama “Jeong Nyeon” for 2024 has been confirmed to air on tvN.
tvN has recently announced the happy news via an official statement, “The drama Jeong Nyeon, based on the popular Naver webtoon that has gained popularity with its fresh material and excellent storytelling, will be aired on tvN. Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran and Moon So Ri have been confirmed to star in the drama. Director Jeong Ji-in, who directed ‘The Red Sleeve’ will be in charge of directing, and writer Choi Hyo-bi, known for ‘Into Your Time,’ will be in charge of the screenplay. The drama is scheduled to start filming in earnest with the goal of broadcasting next year.”
“Jeong Nyeon” is based on the Naver webtoon of the same name. It is a fresh story about a female theater group (a branch of Changgeuk, a traditional Korean play that gained great popular popularity before and after the Korean War, in which all roles are played by women) and has already proven its commercial success. It will depict the entry and growth of Jeong Nyeon (played by Kim Tae Ri), a naturally talented girl, into a female theater group in the aftermath of the Korean War in the 1950s.
The combination of Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran, and Moon So Ri has gained attention among fans all around the world.
Kim Tae Ri will play the role of Jeong Nyeon, a prodigy pansori girl who goes to Seoul with determination to become a theater actress. Therefore, there is great anticipation for Kim Tae Ri’s performance in bringing the character to life with perfect synchronization.
Shin Ye Eun will transform into Heo Yeong-seo, a talented actress. She will create a fiery rivalry with Jeong Nyeon in the drama.
Ra Mi Ran will portray the charismatic and authoritative character of Kang So-bok, the director of the prestigious theater troupe “Ma Ran.” Expectations are high for Ra Mi Ran’s performance.
Lastly, Moon So Ri adds strength to the cast as a special appearance. Moon So Ri will play the role of Seo Yong-rye, a retired mother who raised her child alone, leaving her past as a genius singer behind.
