Kim Min Jae’s drama “Poong The Joseon Psychiatrist 2” ended on February 9th and the actor revealed his further plans while discussing the recently concluded drama.
Kim Min Jae received favorable reviews for carefully portraying the narrative of Yoo Se Poong. The actor met with reporters at a cafe in Gangnam, Seoul on February 10th to talk about “Poong The Joseon Psychiatrist 2”.
Q: You often appear in historical dramas, do you have affection for them?
I don’t think I’ve ever thought of that. I think I like the genre of historical drama. There is definitely a unique charm that only historical dramas have. I think I’m very lucky to be able to do historical dramas. Of course, filming in hanbok is very difficult, but I think I like it a lot.
Q. “Poong The Joseon Psychiatrist” is about a medical doctor, and what part of the drama did check your mind?
– In fact, I think it was hard for me to console others and help others’ hearts. Because I sympathized with that sadness and thought about it together, I felt proud when I saw people heal and get better. That’s why I got more driving force. In fact, the way of looking at life seems to have changed while filming this work. Even when I meet people, I get worried about something and ask if anything is wrong. It’s hard to share a person’s hard feelings, but I was very proud that I was helpful and led to his change.
Q. Weren’t you disappointed that you couldn’t get a higher rating in terms of ratings?
– I had a lot of thoughts. It would have been great if I could deliver a warm drama to more people, but if not, it was okay because I thought this work could convey good meaning to viewers who watch it someday, not now, but later. I did my best while filming the work. There may be some regrets, but it was okay.
Q. What’s your plan to join the army?
– I have to go now. I don’t know when, but I have to go this year or next year. Shouldn’t we go to fulfill our national defense obligations?
The exact date has not been set yet, but the goal of life is to go healthy and cool. There are so many things I want to do in the army. I think it will be an opportunity to read a lot of books and prepare for the next chapter. There must be a time in the military. Of course, my friends who have been to the military laugh, but I am looking forward to it because I think there will be time to study again within regular hours. I think it’ll bring me a break.
Q. What kind of actor do you want to be when you’re in your 30s?
– I think it’s a good thing that my 30s are approaching. There will be more things I can do and more things I can express as I become more mature. As an actor, I hope it will come soon. I’m looking forward to it because I think the 30s is the age to show more things as an actor.
