The ‘demon’ cast members of “The Uncanny Counter 2” have a lot to say about joining the drama at its press conference.

On the 21st of July, a press conference for the new tvN weekend drama, “The Uncanny Counter 2” was held. Director Yoo Sun-dong, along with actors Jo Byeong Gyu, Yoo Jun Sang, Kim Sejeong, Yeom Hye Ran, Ahn Seok Hwan, Jin Sun Kyu, Kang Ki Young, Kim Hieora, and Yoo In Soo attended the event.

“The Uncanny Counter 2” is a thrilling and sweat-inducing hero drama that follows the “counters,” demon hunters who have become stronger with new abilities and the addition of new members, as they fight against increasingly evil demons on Earth.

In Season 2, new characters have been introduced, adding more depth to the narrative. Jin Sun Kyu plays “Maju-seok,” a hot-blooded firefighter who becomes involved in the counters’ activities.

He is happy with his pregnant wife but undergoes a significant transformation after her sudden death. Jin Sun Kyu said about his character, “While playing Joo Seok, I paid most attention to portraying his emotions. In the past, when I worked on a project, I used to prioritize the appearance and build the style. However, this time, I removed all those aspects and focused on expressing the feelings of Joo Seok, who used to dream of simple things. As this role was filled with pain and sorrow, I put in a lot of effort to understand it.”

The new, more formidable villains in ‘The Uncanny Counter 2’ are portrayed by Kang Ki Young as Pil-Gwang, a top predator dreamer, and Kim Hieora as Gelly, a purely evil character.

Kang Ki Young, who takes on the challenge of his first antagonist role in this series, said, “Honestly, I felt a lot of pressure and wondered whether I should take on this project or not.” However, he believed that an actor’s destiny lies in showing various sides of themselves, and the director’s encouragement that “an actor good at playing exciting roles will do well in anything” gave him the strength to participate. Kang Ki Young expressed satisfaction with the role which opened up a broader spectrum of his acting abilities.

Kim Hieora, who left a strong impression in the previous drama ‘The Glory’ as Sa Ra, returns as the tougher and more charismatic Gelly, she mentioned, “There were concerns around me about reprising a similar character to my previous role as Sa Ra. However, Sa Ra and Gelly have different stories, destinies, and backgrounds, and the director and writer are different as well. So, I had complete faith that they would be absolutely different characters and approached the role with that mindset.”

The new and more intense storyline, as well as the thrilling chemistry between the cast, will captivate viewers once again when “The Uncanny Counter 2” premieres on tvN on the 29th of this month at 9:20 PM.
