Kang Dong Won (42), who rose to stardom as a top actor from a model background, has recently started a new journey as a one-person agency. It has been revealed that although he currently runs a one-person agency, he is also considering the possibility of recruiting junior and senior colleagues in the future.
According to OSEN’s report on the 29th, Kang Dong Won recently confirmed the name of his agency as “AA Group.” He had entered into a free agent (FA) status in December last year and started preparing for the establishment of his one-person agency and content production company since January this year, as reported by the magazine.
Kang Dong Won has decided to challenge himself in new areas as an actor and a producer in his own company starting this year, but he stated that he has no intention of venturing into the field of directing.
Many popular actors in the Korean entertainment industry are also running their own agencies. Initially, these actors started on their own and later recruited junior colleagues, eventually establishing themselves as major agencies. It seems that Kang Dong Won also intends to follow this precedent, although there are currently no reports of him recruiting other actors.
The representative of AA Group is a former editor of magazine H, which was published every two weeks. She is working together with Kang Dong Won in running the agency. The magazine has not released any new issues since April 2020.
Kang Dong Won made his debut in 2003 with the drama “The Precious Lady” and gained attention as an actor through the film “The Temptation of Wolves” (2004). He became a top actor with successful films such as “The Brothers” (2010), “The Age of Shadows” (2014), “The Priests” (2015), “Master” (2016), “1987” (2017), and “Peninsula” (2020).
Kang Dong Won is currently preparing for the theatrical release of his new film “The Cursed Detective: The Secret of the Snowscape” and is filming for the Netflix film “The Door” directed by Park Chan-wook.
