Park Seo Joon, Han So Hee And More Speak About Why They Chose “Gyeongseong Creature,” What Makes The Drama Special And More At Press Conference
The highly anticipated drama “Gyeongseong Creature” has held its press conference and here are some highlights from the event!
On the morning of the 19th of December, the production presentation for the Netflix original series “Gyeongseong Creature” was held. Actors Park Seo Joon, Han So Hee, Soohyun, Kim Hae Sook, Jo Han Chul, and director Jung Dong-yoon attended the event.
“Gyeongseong Creature” tells the story of two young people who were born in the darkest period of history in 1945 spring, confronting monsters born out of greed, when survival was everything.
Park Seo Joon took on the role of Jang Tae-sang, the best information agent in Gyeongseong. He explained about ‘Gyeongseong Creature,’ saying, “It is a genre work set in 1945, featuring creatures and the story of two youths. It is a work that can present a complex genre.”
When asked about the reason for deciding to appear in ‘Gyeongseong Creature,’ Park Seo Joon said, “The story itself was attractive. It seemed like a role that could show various aspects. I also liked the works of writer Kang Eun-kyung. When I was doing the drama ‘Itaewon Class,’ the director was doing ‘Stove League.’ I thought it would be nice to meet him, and I was able to meet So Hee as well. Everything is diverse.”
Park Seo Joon also said, “Although it was difficult, I think it was a good stress. It was a lot of people’s first attempt, and the fight against time was the most difficult. I worked hard to create good scenes and worried a lot, but I think it turned out well. I think we can provide a good spectacle to watch.”
Han So Hee, who plays the skilled professional thief Yoon Chae-ok, said, “I enjoyed watching the director’s ‘Stove League’ and the drama that Seo Jun sunbae appeared in. I was most attracted to the background provided by the era. It is also a creature and genre work. It was the part that led me to wonder what help creature and background would give me.”
Soohyun plays the role of noblewoman Maeda Yukiko. Su-hyun, who prepared for the Japanese dialect, said, “This is a work I chose after a long time. I thought it was a very attractive work, and I thought it would be fun and challenging to portray the small conflicts and subtle emotions between characters within the scale. I thought I could grow through it.”
Kim Hae Sook, who played Na Wol-daeng said, “The combination of creatures and a captivating narrative in a period piece was innovative. There was no reason not to choose it because of the trust in the writer and director. I was happy to work with the actors I wanted to work with. I was really surprised when I saw the set. I exclaimed ‘Wow.’ It was the first time I saw such a set. When they said they would destroy the set, I got angry. It was splendid and magnificent, like it perfectly transported that era. It felt like I had become a person from that era,” she said, raising expectations.
Jo Han Chul, who played Chae Ok’s father Yoon Jung-won, said, “The script was very good. I also enjoyed the director’s previous works. When a project comes in, I’m curious and excited about who the co-stars will be, so I had no reason to decline. Personally, I wanted to play the character of Yoon Jung-won, who is a melodramatic character,” he said, showing affection for his character.
What is the difference between ‘Gyeongseong Creature’ and the creatures in ‘Sweet Home’ on Netflix, which was released prior to ‘Gyeongseong Creature? “The biggest difference is that the creature in ‘Gyeongseong Creature’ has a touch of sadness. I think if you watch our work, you will understand what I mean. It’s not a powerful and cool creature. We tried to focus on that. It is a creature with a story, and that characteristic is well displayed in its actions and expressions,” he added, drawing attention.
“Gyeongseong Creature” Part 1 will be released on the 22nd, and Part 2 will be released on January 5, 2024.
